Power point animation

In 2015 in first year and first semester, we learned a module called “FIT” in which we were exposed to many new things. From all the topics we were taught, I would like to share my understanding on “Microsoft Power point”.
We learned how to make power point presentation. While creating a PowerPoint presentation, we learned that we should keep in mind the following points
·        We have to keep the bullets and texts short and to the point.
·        They should be used as aids only and the explanation should be done by the presenter.
·        The animations when the slide changes or an object appears must be chosen according the audience. It shouldn’t to too fancy and distracting.
·        We should use simple animations but we should not overuse them.
·        One of the most important things we have to keep in mind is the color combination
We also learned to make animation in power point slides, where we used shapes, colors, animation etc. So in the power point document attached, I designed a small animation on light with the use of different shapes, colors and animation.

Now in this document I created a rice mill again with all the features available. It helped me grow creativity and animation skills.

It helped me in enhancing the teaching and learning material, it also helped me in becoming more critical and creative. Where, all the lessons I learned in FIT module will help me a lot in delivering teaching concept once I become a teacher.

Animation with Flash Adobe

In the year 2016 we studied about Flash. From this module we studied a lot about animation in Flash Adobe.
Adobe Flash animation or Adobe Flash cartoon is an animated film that is created with the Adobe Flash platform or similar animation software and often distributed in the SWF file format. The term Adobe Flash animation refers to both the file format and the medium in which the animation is produced.
At first I was very excited about making animation and  thought I will be good at it as it would be interesting but later after studying and doing it practically, I then thought it is not a piece of cake. Nevertheless, I learned animation from the scratch with stick mans. The course helped me in being creative and careful.
While creating a flash animation, we had to create and every character or things involved in animation as symbol and then place it properly on timeline. Each and every frame required 100% concentration and patience.
We started from the scratch, from drawing walking stick. It taught me that every step needs to be carefully designed

In flash, it is not only about animation but also about time, drawing skill, color combination etc. There all the activities helped me in the required skills. Attached below is an animation of a frog catching eating a flying fly all in flash, which was fun.

After all the hard work and challenges, I could make an animation on “TIME MANAGEMENT” which is linked below.

Javascript: Event handlers

In the year 2016 we studied the module “Introduction to Scripting” with subject Code ICT 205. From this module we studied about event handlers which is one of my favorite topics being taught in that module.

An event handler is a predefined JavaScript keyword that is used to handle an event on a web page. Often, an event is something that happens when the viewer of the page performs some sort of action, such as clicking a mouse button, clicking a button on the page, changing the contents of a form element, or moving the mouse over a link on the page.

When the events like these occur, we are able to use JavaScript event handlers to identify them then perform specific task or set of tasks. JavaScript enables us to react to an action by the viewer and to make scripts that are interactive, and more useful to us.

We learned how to create rollover on the web pages (animation) on power point as follows:

And the output is attached below in the link
Similarly I used other event handlers such as onClick designed in the document attached below

Microsoft Word

In 2015 in first year and first semester, we learned a module called “FIT” in which we were exposed to many new things. From all the topics we were taught, I would like to share my understanding on “Microsoft word”.
In microsoft word, we can do so many little and effective things such as follows:
ü  Insert of pictures
ü  Use of diagrams
ü  Tables
ü  Charts
ü  Smart art etc
The above mentioned features will all enhance our learning and will obviously help us in better teaching in our near future as a teacher.
Microsoft word has made our job easy. Like before in olden days when there was no computer people use to write applications and letters using hand which is quit hard when we think now. But now it has become much easier.
It is hard to design 100 cards for 100 people so with the help of “Mail merge” where we can write all the names and then it will automatically print 100 cards which is quite effective, convenient and saved lot of time. So after designing the wedding card, I attached 5 of my friends which were very easy.

We can also use MS word to design birthday card, wedding cards and other invitation cards with images, different font styles and colors.
Similarly we were asked to design a wedding card as linked below.

We can also use tables just liked I used in noting the subject marks of Tenzin Wangmo in tables. Table helps in making the information look more precise and summarized.

Here in college we have lots of assignments to write where we use Microsoft word to write. One interesting thing I found is it has grammar and syntax which is worth using in terms of checking the spellings and focusing on punctuation. Spelling check feature in Microsoft word helps us to correct the spellings in our documents. We can also fix the punctuation errors as well. Even the lecturers use MS Word to correct our assignment by highlighting, underlining and by giving comment.
So in the document linked below, I corrected one document written by one of my classmate as an activity in the class.

Gagne's 9 laws of instructional design

In 2018 spring semester, we were given as assignment to make a video on any model under instructional design. So from many Instructional design model, i chose "Gagne's 9 events of instruction".
For this assignment I used videoleap and musemege for editing the video. And for the powerpoint presentation show, I used camtasia to screen record the slides. I learned a lot from the video editing apps and it was a fun way to learn the Gagne's 9 events of instructions as well.

Robert Gagné proposed a series of events which follow a systematic instructional design process that share the behaviorist approach to learning, with a focus on the outcomes or behaviors of instruction or training.
Gagne's Nine Levels of Learning model gives trainers and educators a checklist to use before they engage in teaching or training activities.
Each step highlights a form of communication that aids the learning process.
When each step is completed in turn, learners are much more likely to be engaged and to retain the information or skills that they're being taught.

Following are the Gagne's 9 events of instructions
        i.            Gaining attention
     ii.            Inform learner of objectives
   iii.            Prior learning
    iv.            Present content
       v.            Provide guidance
    vi.            Practice
  vii.            Provide feedback
viii.            Assess performance
ix.            Enhance retention and transfer to the job

Gagne's Nine Levels of Learning provide a step-by-step checklist that helps you ensure that you present a comprehensive and successful learning experience. Each step is designed to help your trainees understand and retain information effectively.
Gagne's model can be combined effectively with other training methods, such as 4MAT and the ARCS model. These additional methods can help you better understand your class's needs.
As an activity, I designed a lesson plan focusing on Gagne’s Nine events of instruction.

Camtasia

Camtasia (formerly Camtasia Studio) is a software suite, created and published by TechSmith, for creating video tutorials and presentations directly via screencast, or via a direct recording plug-in to Microsoft PowerPoint.

The screen area to be recorded can be chosen freely, and audio or other multimedia recordings may be recorded at the same time or added separately from any other source and integrated in the Camtasia component of the product.

The 3 most interesting things about Camtasia Studio are as follows:
1.      Recording screen - We can record anything like the whole screen. We can add video, images, audio, and even PowerPoint presentations that we already have.
2.      Make edits - A simple timeline makes editing video easy. We can combine or split clips, trim, and speed up or slow down the footage to make the video more interesting. Then, we can instantly preview inside the video editor.
3.      Add effects - We can also give videos polished and professional video editor effects. We can also add highlights, animation, titles, transitions and more. It is so easy to use it, we simply need to drag and drop the effects onto the timeline.
At the end of the course, we all made a video using camtasia where we incorporated all the editing styles we learned in the class. The video I made is attached below

Another video attached below is a short video I created using Camtasia as teaching material in one of the micro teaching. Likewise we can not only make videos for fun, it will also help us in preparing a very effective video using text, voice narration and clip arts.
